DIANNE JOINS NOTTINGHAMSHIRE CARES

Cares is co-ordinated by Business in the Community and is supported by local public, private and voluntary sector partners. It is the UK's leading employee volunteering programme, offering companies advice and support on how to develop an employee volunteering programme and provides a framework for businesses to engage with their communities and access to a wide range of volunteering opportunities.
“As one of Nottingham’s leading PR agencies, we are keen to put our professional knowledge and experience to good use,” said Dianne. “I look forward to being on the leadership team, particularly to help raise the profile of Nottinghamshire Cares.”

MAKE OURS A PINT OF JO & TWIGGY'S!
15 October 2007
A new real ale has just been launched to raise money for the When You Wish Upon a Star charity. The ale, named Jo and Twiggy’s, was created by award winning Nottingham Brewery, The Pub People Company and Trent FM.
Sold exclusively in Pub People and Wetherspoon pubs in Nottingham, 10p from every pint of Jo & Twiggy’s will go to the charity.
The ale is described by its creator, Phil Darby of Nottingham Brewery as “a golden, hoppy, refreshing light bitter (4.1%)”. It is a great local combination of a worthy charity and a great beer being sold in quality outlets across the city.”

Nicola Brien, East Midlands regional fundraiser for When You Wish Upon a Star said: "This Christmas When You Wish Upon a Star will take over 400 children on the trip of a lifetime to meet the real Father Christmas in Lapland.

HANDS ON WITH A LOCAL COMMUNITY PROJECT
26 June 2007
As a member of Nottingham-based network group, Women in Construction (WIC), Gemini MD Dianne Allen was amongst a team of more than 40 volunteers who recently helped out on a two-day challenge to make-over Bluebell Hill Community Centre, in St Anns.
WIC members, along with players from Nottingham Rugby Club, carried out renovations at the Community Centre and its surrounding garden, which is council owned but is managed by a small group of local residents. It provides the community with a nursery, an after schools club and a place for the elderly to meet.
“It was great to get involved in this community project,” said Dianne. “The outside of the building looked very tired and in need of a bit of a face lift and the garden needed a lot of work. It was all hands to the deck, clearing, painting, weeding, mowing and planting. We were really pleased with the finished result as were the local residents.”
At the end of the second day local residents and senior council members were invited to come and celebrate the opening of the new centre and its community garden.
Nottingham’s Women in Construction is an informal networking organisation established in 2005 for ladies working in a number of different professions, including lawyers, contractors, developers, engineers and architects.
This is the second voluntary project that WIC has been involved in. It follows on from last year’s success, when they helped install two eco friendly toilets on the Hungerhill allotments in St Anns.

NEBA APPOINTS GEMINI FOR PR SUPPORT
19 June 2007
The Nottinghamshire Education and Business Alliance (NEBA) has appointed Gemini PR & Marketing to provide public relations support.
Mansfield-based NEBA brokers and supports partnerships between schools and businesses to bring alive work-related learning.
Gemini will be responsible for raising NEBA’s profile in Nottinghamshire, with a focus on encouraging local businesses to provide work related learning opportunities, such as work experience and mentoring, for the county’s youngsters.
Jan Richardson, senior executive at NEBA, “Work-related learning is so important to raise attainment, improve employability skills and develop enterprise capabilities of young people. We need local companies to volunteer their services and support activities, so we have appointed Gemini to raise awareness of the organisation amongst the business and, to a lesser extent, education communities in Nottinghamshire.
“We have a team of business engagement advisors who work with businesses across the county to encourage them to lend their support and it makes their job a little easier if local employers have already heard of NEBA and know about our work.”
Dianne Allen, managing director of Nottingham-based Gemini PR & Marketing, said: “We’re delighted to be working with NEBA. We have the ideal business and education experience to help NEBA and we know we can do a really good job for them.”
